Review content:
I actually stayed at the Maverick House for more than 36 hours and was actually there and experienced the scabies ""outbreak""- Here's what really happened. I guess some dude had been admitted into treatment and about a week later, broke out in scabies and had exposed his roommates to it. It was two dudes that had it and they left until they could get medical clearance, and in fact had come back while I was still at Maverick House. Ed, the program manager came and told all of us that there had been exposure to scabies, what it was, what the symptoms were, how to get it from someone else, and what the timeframe was for it. Then the next day, EVERYONE had to go to Ed's office and sign for some medicated preventive cream that maverick had gotten for us. And by the way, it was everyone that got the cream, there was staff members in line for the cream with us. And that was the ""huge"" outbreak that Donny said he heard about. I will say that yeah, some of the guys that were there while I was there did get bit by bed bugs, but when you get admitted into maverick they have you sign a document that tells you from day one that Maricopa county has had an outbreak of them, and that maverick's gonna put your stuff in a shed for 24 hours at something like 180 degress. I never got bit, I guess it is one room over in the men's hallway cause while I was there, staff was always having those guys take everything out of their room and stick it in the shed while they had a guy spray the room. While you are there you do have to do chores and the staff goes around and makes sure that things are getting done. Is the building old? Yeah it is, and they were getting the roof repaired while I was there. But does the program work? YES...look, it's not the ritz and its rehab, its not gonna be disneyland. I'm sure that I had lots of reasons and excuses in my head my first 36-48 hours in maverick for why I wanted to leave treatment like Donny did too. The difference is I stuck it out and that god that I did. maverick saved my life..and BTW the food does not suck! I gained 15 pounds while I was there...Maybe the weekend that Donny was in treatment the menu wasn't to his taste- If you don't believe me, go check out Maverick House. You won't regret recovery...EVER.
