Review content:
My husband and I adopted our little guy in Sept of '10 from a shelter and got a very sweet, loveable hound mix, who does have some people issues. It breaks our heart to think that he was abused by anyone, but he clearly must of been because he is very skiddish around new people, especially men.
In February of 2011 we were planning a weekend away and got a referral from doggy parent friends who had used Camp Bow Wow and loved it. So we brought our little Charlie in for his 'interview' session (he had to be approved to make sure he could interact with the other dogs ok). He went in a few more times for daycare just to get adjusted before we left him up there for 3 nights.
Besides the great attention and enthusiasm the caretakers give to the dogs, one of the best things about CBW is that you can watch your doggy while your away! We brought our laptop with us and when we were in the room of the hotel we were easily able to watch Charlie running around and chasing the other dogs. What made us feel completely assured? At one point during the weekend we saw one of the male workers sit down beside Charlie, and we saw Charlie put his head in the guy's lap - something he would never do unless he felt completely safe and comfortable!
Whenever we bring Charlie there now we know he will get lots of attention, affection and play time. My only 'complaint' about the experience was that it was mandatory to give them 2 credit card numbers, with them saying they would only charge the card you preferred. Somehow our communications must have gotten crossed, b/c the card I DIDN'T want any charges on, got charged. So, just a word of advice, be very specific on what card you want charged. Other than that, if you are looking for a clean, sweet, respected doggy care place, CBW is the way to go!
