I took my 6 month old Soft Coated Wheaten to be groomed for the first time and ended up with a SHAVED DOG. When we first arrived in the morning to drop him off - I met with the groomer and we discussed (in great detail) what would be done - leave him shaggy / long but get the mats out (on the back of the legs and the under side). When I went to pick him up I didn't even recognize him! I still wasn't sure I had the right dog on the drive home! The groomer I spoke with originally was already gone for the day so the front desk called back and spoke with another groomer who stated that he wasn't very good with the bath, dryer, etc ... (Which is odd cause he is fine with a bath and hair dryer at home) and that to get the mats out it would have traumatized him and with this being his first time being groomed he would be afraid to be groomed forever. So I guess they decided SHAVING him would be the only solution?!?!? Really?!?!? In addition, they knicked both of his ears and now he has two 2"" red / oozing scabs. Maybe a phone call to me before you shaved my dog BALD would have been a good idea. He has been depressed and just started eating again (after 4 days). I would say he was pretty traumatized. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN!
