Review content:
My girlfriend and I were looking for a low key outdoor dining experience for lunch this weekend while running some errands in Dilworth and decided on 300 East.
The menu is compact and has a unique twist on traditional dishes. The service....we'll lets just say it needs some help.
We were promptly seated in the garden bistro table section out in front of the restaurant which can be a little annoying if the bugs are out. We had waited a few minutes after being seated before being greeted by our waitress. Being a hot day, I ordered a beer and my girlfriend ordered a diet coke. About 5 minutes later she brought back the drinks, the diet coke being flat. Another 5 minutes pass by and the waitress came back and took our orders, my girlfriend ordered ""The Usual"" (open-faced chicken salad sandwich with asparagus and cheddar cheese) and I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and jalapenos and a cucumber salad. Both of which were full of flavor and prepared very well.
Waiting for the food took longer than usual or expected considering the restaurant was not even close to being busy. The waitress almost seemed as if we were a nuisance to her, only visiting our table when it was absolutely necessary (i.e. to get drinks, to take order, to bring food, to bring check). No check ups, no making sure food was prepared to our liking. It seemed like that was the norm for at least the patrons who were outside, as the other tables didn't appear to be getting much love either.
300 East is a place where I try to go because it's a local establishment and uses quality ingredients. And, yes, the food is great, but the service reminds me why I don't eat there more often.
Pros: Food Quality
Cons: Service
