Review content:
I have a medical bill that this company is attempting to collect for. The bill was from 5 years ago and I didn't realize that it even existed. I am a graduate student who is married and has one child. My wife is disabled and not currently received any form of compensation. I drive over an hour to school and over an hour back home everyday. The gas expense alone is insane. We are living off of school loans, food stamps, medicaid, and section 8 housing. It took me humbling myself over the past year to accept any help. I couldn't watch my family go completely without over the past year and for the year to come, so I began receiving food stamps, etc. When the collection agency called, I told them that I would get another financial aid check coming in this past January and I would try and pay something on it. Unfortunately, due to a medical leave for an operation the semester before, I was given a much smaller amount than I normally am. When they called, I started to explain this, and the lady (Sherril or Shirl) began interupting and asking "What do you have left in your bank account that you can give us?" I responded, almost saying that I had only 600.00 to last me til the end of summer, and then realized that she was going too far. This information was none of her business. I told her "That really is beyond the scope of what you need to know." She stated, it is so my business since you decided to lie to us for the past three months!" I tried to explain that I didn't lie, I was just misinformed and was unaware that I would be shorted this semester. I couldn't even get that out! She repeated over and over "you are a lier" and "yes you did lie". I couldn't even get her to stop long enough to see if there was something reasonable I could pay until I got my next financial aid check at the end of March. Anyway, I thought it was terribly unprofessional, not to mention cruel and rude. Try to avoid this customer service representative at all costs!
Pros: Front office staff are pleasant and helpful. I have paid two other accounts off working with other CSR's and received pleasant service and good discounts.
Cons: It is sad that one CSR can make the entire company look bad, but a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.
