i was very hesitant to place my mother here based on the reviews. however they were the only ones that offered so we reluctantly came. i am so glad we did. my family and I have found the staff to be responsive and concerned. we were not looking for perfection. we did find quality care and staff that appear to truly like their jobs. i can tell you that I visited three other homes before coming here and this facility was the only one that I met the director of nursing in and was given a number to call her any time if I have question. If taking care of people was easy none of us would ever need a nursing home for our families. I found the food when I ate with mom to be typical food cooked to serve alot of people. Its not going to be like home, the hospital isnt like home, heck eating at the in laws isnt like eating at home. so you need to be realistic, I can tell you though that the fried chicken is awesome and the crab cakes were pretty good. what matteres is my mom is still here and hasnt lost weight or got bed sore and loves going to bingo and getting her hair done. I have never smelled any lingering odors. The other residents love being here and my mom was here during their annual survey and no abuse or neglect or poor care was noted. Its tough placing a family member but be sure we dont let our own sense of guilt cloud our perception to the good care given to alot of people. i would not want my mother any where else.
