Evidently CE’s low BBB rating is well deserved. My regular AC people were short-staffed because of family emergency. So I called CE instead. He only looked at my unit inside (the compressor & fan) for a moment & then went outside for another minute or two. Came back and told me that I had terrible problems and needed an entirely new unit. He gave me a long list of problems. When I questioned the cost of the new unit he ‘told me’ he was sending over his manager but it would be about $5000. I asked him to just fix it because I didn’t that kind of money. He refused to fix it because ‘it was so terribly unsafe’ and offered to finance a new unit for me. He mentioned a lot of things like electrical fires and carbon monoxide. Since my AC has been regularly serviced by the same firm for years, this didn’t make sense. I sent him on his merry-way and called my usual people. When they arrived the next day the entire system had been disconnected. They replaced all of the damaged parts (damaged by CE?), cleaned the unit, replaced the compressor and did a general overhaul for $250. Be warned this group is obviously operating one of the biggest scams in the AC industry. Do not let them anywhere near your AC.
