Review content:
Mark W. came to our house to perform the annual preventative maintenance on our furnance. He arrived with the 2 hour window and after asking the basic questions about how the furnance and electronic air filter were functioning, he went to work.
After 30 minutes or so, Mark asked me to join him in the furnance room in the basement. He had removed the furnance fan motor during cleaning and wanted to explain what he had found.
He said the dust/dirt build up on the fan blades and the coils in the furnance would shorten the life of our furnance and that we might want need to change the frequency that we were cleaning the filters in the electonic air filter. He said that the manufaturer recommended that the filters in the electronic air filter be cleaned every week. He also offered an option of a filter that cleaned the air more effectively and would only need to be changed quarterly.
As my wife and I are retired, we find that lugging the electronic air filter and associated fiters outside to cleaned as a less than desirable task so I asked her to join us in the furnance room to hear Mark's explanation. We then decided to replace the electronic air filter with the one that Mark recommended - and it was less that half the cost of the electronic filter that we had installed just a few years ago.
We feel that Mark extremely competent, did an outstanding job, was well informed about his products, was able to communicate to us effectively as to what our options were and left the decision to us as how we wanted to proceed.
We feel that we were well served in the maintenance of the furnance and purchased a better performing product for a price that was a real value for us.
Mark, thanks for a job well done.
