In my opinion, the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA is the absolute best aquarium. The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific comes in a close second. It's a bit pricey ($19 plus parking) but the aquarium is quite big, with lots to see and hands-on opportunities as well. Kids will love the shark exhibits, and check out the jellyfish and sea horse exhibits as well. Plan to spend a good amount of time here to see everything.
