Review content:
I found a quite handsome restaurant called Royal India located on Market street in down town San Diego, and in addition to an eye-catching decor that includes a gently flowing water sculpture and other attractions, the Indian food served at Royal India takes diners on a nice tour of the Indian Kitchen. So I decided to take my wife on our anniversary to Royal India.
Choice of appetizer which include Paneer Pakora, Onion Bhaji and Chicken lettuce wrap set the mood with Indian Mojito and Mango Martini which are made fresh to order and are superb.
Freshly baked breads are simply fluffy- textured Nan which are absolutly essential to an Indian meal, are offered at Royal India with profusion, along with numerous house curry specialties, familiar curry preparations and assorted meats and seafood cooked in a mesquite charcoal-heated tandoor.
Cooking Chicken Tikka Masala can be a tricky process and Royal India's Executive chefs and owners Sandeep Kambo (Sam) and Jagdeep Kambo (Jag) make it the best with Chicken marinated in Yogurt and spices then cooked with tomato and curry with touch of cream and the seasoning which Kambo Brothers mix and blend themselves is key to it and that flavour is the one that brought me back, the same curry can be cooked with Paneer (Homemade farmers cheese mixed with spices) the curry at Royal India can be mild or volcanic according to taste just let your server know your choice.
Other pleasures that issue from the oven include the spicy lemon-chili kabab which also is flavoured with pungent fresh ginger and a garlic kabab with fresh cilantro and other herbs. Lamb Kabab is so tender that it melts in your mouth.
We ended our meal with Pistacho Ice cream and my wife had Mango Mousse. What a lovely treat. Thank you Royal India.
