Review content:
Good value for the money: A clean, cheap, no-frills place to stay; our room was only $49/night. Kind of noisy (near a major intersection), but also convenient for walking to restaurants and shops a few blocks away. Two good breakfast places nearby (Wild Plum Cafe and Old Monterey Cafe). About a 25-minute walk to the aquarium along the very nice recreational trail. Parking is limited - the garage was full one night so we had to park on the street (not a problem, though). Biggest complaint was the showerhead - it was mounted too low on the wall, I had to crouch down to wash my hair (I'm 5'7").
