You'll find all of the above and much much more at the Bean Museum. Wondering what an okapi looks like? Try here (its sorta like an antelope) They have everything from an insect case to seashells to all sorts of stuffed animals. I thought it was great to see a liger (cross between a lion and a tiger) There's all sorts of animals I never knew existed....
Best of all, the museum is free!
It can be a little boring for young kids...they would probably like a zoo better where the animals actually do things...but they do have some free shows and activities.
They also have a small gift shop with some nifty little items. I got some really nice seashells here. The prices seem reasonable.
