Helps seamen away from home 7/24/2005

Many seamen come to Beaumont on ships from other countries or other parts of the United States. The Seafarers' Center is located in a building at the Port of Beaumont and takes care of almost 6500 seamen each year. The Seafarers' Center, a non-denominational Christian ministry, has a chaplain that drives the seamen to shopping, church services or other places. He is there to talk to those with problems or homesickness, and the center also has meals on Sundays for the homeless. more
