2nd Chance - Small, independent, decent prices 7/8/2005

Second Chance Books is located in the Sam’s Club area off North Harrison Ave in Cary. It was one of the first used bookstores in North Cary. The owner is very sweet. There is a large selection of books, although the store is quite small and can sometimes feel a bit claustrophobia-inducing. Everything is very neat and organized. The prices are comparable to other used bookstores in the area. They accept books for cash or trade credit. Unlike a lot of the other bookstores in the area, only 50% trade can be applied to a purchase instead of just being able to buy a book on trade credit alone. They also have a little out-business at the fairgrounds inside one of the buildings, in case you need something they don’t have there in the store. The only problem I’ve run into is that sometimes when the owner isn’t working herself, the employees don’t want to purchase your books on the spot for fear of making some kind of mistake. Usually they ask you to leave your books and come back in a day or two, which can be a hassle if you don’t live close. more
