I've passed this restaurant on busy Franklin Turnpike too many times to mention until my friend suggested she knew a GREAT place for pizza. Who knew that it would be Roxanne's?
Roxanne's serves thin crust pizza that is simply delicious. They call it "authentic New York style thin crust pizza." It is baked in an open style brick oven and that seems to make all the difference in taste. We order plain pies prepared with fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce and fresh basil--and it always gets the same compliment from my family, "this is SUCH good pizza." A variety of toppings are available but the plain is just simply scrumptious.
This family run restaurant has a couple of dining areas plus a bar and an outdoor patio for dining al fresco. A complete menu of Italian lunch and dinner specialties is available in addition to the pizza. Entrees are served family style and the potions are generous. Order a Mesclun salad to accompany your pizza--a huge family style platter of fresh mesclun greens, grilled portabello mushrooms, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Perfection. The grilled panini sandwiches are a popular item and available only at lunch. Select chicken, roast beef, turkey with a choice of cheese and vegetables--accompanied by hand cut french fries.
Service is efficient and pleasant and if you don't leave there stuffed, take the rest home in a doggie bag--you'll be glad you did.
There is parking on the premises and the place is busy most evenings and weekends so come early or be prepared to wait.
