Gayety's is 'the place' for ice cream in the Chicago area. They've been around for decades and have the best ice cream and chocolates. Everything is homemade right down to the whipped cream. Their portions are pretty large, for instance when ordering a shake they fill up the glass plus give you what's left in the silver mixer and to top it off vanilla wafers. Everything I've had their is excellent.
