My Chiropractor sold me on trying expensive orthotics. The technology relies on measuring pressure points, similar to that of another leading manufacturer of over-the-counter insoles. You then get a number and a pretty picture of a skeleton with a misaligned pelvis and spine. I wasn't sold on the shock absorption or pressure relief since any over-the-counter insole can provide the same function, but I was interested in correcting any spine or pelvic issues. The insoles arrived not as described. The surface of the insole was very slick causing friction, heat, and tenderness. The slick surface also raises concerns for the geriatric population, and could possibly increase the fall risk. The slick surface of the insoles would also exert horizontal pressure to the outside edges of the shoe, instead of vertical downward pressure, causing the foot to roll and the ankle to buckle. Why would they supply a slippery surface to active wear/active application? In addition, the insoles arrived exactly identical. How would symmetric insoles correct an asymmetric body alignment? Wouldn't there need to be some vertical height difference to balance and align the pelvis, as shown so misaligned from the skeletal model? I brought these issues up with my Chiropractor and he addressed the company. Foot Levelers provides different surfaces to their insoles. They chose to "customize" my insole with a slippery surface. My doctor asked if they could customize the insoles with a non-slippery surface and the girl told him "no". She also stated that she could not comment on the validation of pelvic and spine stabilization as this would expose "proprietary measuring" techniques and trade secrets. Essentially they told my doctor, they would do nothing to correct the issue. They do not reveal the return/exchange/warranty policy to their customers citing HIPAA laws. They also have a policy of no customer service and will only speak with your doctor. I feel cheated and taken advantage of and this has affect my trust in my doctor. more
