Yes, it's true the prices are often higher than the big stores and online catalog stores; but, those places won't take the time to personally fit you with the right pack, boots, tent, sleeping bag, stove, etc.. The people here use the gear they sell and will share their knowledge and experience. I don't buy everything here, but I always start here to make sure I understand what to look for in the product I'm considering. Places like this are special.
