New brakes were installed in my car by Pep Boys Torrance in November 2006. The day after, as I was driving, the front brakes began to smoke, and I almost lost control of my car. Both brakes were smoking as I drove the car back to Pep Boys. The service rep said that the brakes were faulty, and replaced the brakes with ones from the Subaru dealer. Pep Boys still has not paid for the charges I incurred from having to rent a car while the brakes were replaced again. I have been waiting for almost who months for a reimbursement. The store manager did not even call me to apologize for the almost drastic consequences I, and others, could have suffered had I lost the brakes entirely.
I think Pep Boys installed some off brand brakes and then blamed the "faulty brakes" for the problem.
