Customer Safety 10/28/2006

I took my car there because I suspected the master cylinder was bad and I knew my power booster was good but 25 years old and on borrowed time. After three days he said he couldn't replace the booster as he had agreed because the pin holding it to the brake pedal was rusted. In the process he managed to bend the clevis holding the booster linkage to the pedal as well as the booster linkage itself. He bent it to the point that the safety clip would not go back on. He told me he would have to take the car apart to fix it and that they were not in the business of taking cars apart. He said it was safe to drive home like it was because the rust would hold the pin in. He charged me for a master cylinder and a restocking fee for the booster that he said he could not install. When I drove home it took both feet to make the car stop. When I went back to him and asked him if he tested the car he said just in the parking lot. When I told him what happened he told me to check for a vacuum leak. Now after three days I am out $53, my linkage is destroyed as well as the booster and the car cannot be driven. I guess I am lucky that I got home without an accident. I would hardly consider this a professional or safe way to treat customers. My car was obviously taking up space that could be used to fix easier problems, therefore, safety was not a concern only getting my car out of the bay. more
