Carrabba's Italian Grill http://www.carrabbas.com/ is a great place to have and Italian dinner. Most nights you can expect to wait in line for a table because it is a very popular spot in Augusta. The place smells so good when you walk in you can hardly stand it. They have a fire pit oven where you can watch them put the pizza's in to cook. There is no door so you can watch the pizza's cook on the stone floor of the oven and the fire burning in the background. The back of the restaurant is glassed off and you can see the chef's cooking and preparing the dishes.
My favorite is Spiedio di Mare (shrimp & scallops coated with Italian breadcrumbs, grilled & topped with lemon). That's served with a salad and garlic mashed potatoes. It's best to go there hungry and if you have room for dessert try the John Cole (vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce topped with cinnamon rum pecans.) There is nothing like it.
