Gross and Not a Money Saver 10/24/2006

I would assume for such a dilapidated theater, the drinks/food would be cheaper. No. It will still cost you 3.75 for a soft drink to go and sit in a crusty, broken chair that will probably poke you and try and see over the person's head in front of you. You can hear all the other movies, the screen quality isn't so great, the sound will be in and out, and even ticket prices are as high as the good movie theaters. The lack of a great movie theater is one of the worst things about living in St. Augustine. We have to go to the Avenues or Tinseltown to a) see a decent movie and feel like we're getting our money's worth and b) not be disgusted. It is also the local hangout for every single middle/high schooler. Police are regularly patrolling so as to keep them in line, but they are still a HUGE nuisance, taking flash pictures of themselves, sneaking in and out of movies, etc. I know that happens everywhere, but at this theater, adults are definitely minorities. I can't imagine this place staying in business much longer. more
