We stopped at this Wendy’s in North East at 7PM on a Friday and as we were parking I noticed three employees sitting outside the main entrance sitting on the curb smoking. One particular person grabbed my attention as he was smoking and was wearing the plastic sanitary gloves. My first thought was I wondered if he would change the gloves when it reentered the store. Often I see that people who are smoking rarely ever wash their hands upon return to work.
As I walked toward the entrance he entered the building ahead of me and spoke to another employee who was leaving the building for a smoke break. I watched the male employee go behind the counter and walk directly to the takeout window never changing his gloves. When I mentioned the incident to the lady who was leaving the work area she said “Oh yes, he washed his hands and changed his gloves”.
This was a straight lie because I observed him continuously and the period of time was less than 5 seconds from the time he walked through the door to the employee area to the time he appeared at the takeout window.
I left the store and vowed never to stop there again. I think all fast food stores need to watch simple sanitary codes to protect the public from germ and disease.
