I know several vets and have worked with more than one of them. I would not even send my WORST enemy here though. The doctor has a habit of not showing up especially if it is hunting season or if he had a party the night before. It is then left to the staff to try to do the morning treatments and tell the clients SOMETHING, ANYTHING (other than the truth) to get them to reschedule. Some of the treatments are supposed to be done by the vet and only the vet but when the vet is not there you have no other choice. The vet talks very badly about some clients behind their backs then kisses up royally to their face.
When I worked there you were never sure if your paycheck would clear the bank. Alot of clients are way overcharged for things.
The care is very questionable. There was one instance where a very well taken care of LARGE dog passed away. The owners wanted to have the dog cremated. This was before I was aware of St Francis, anyway the dog laid on a sheet covered by another sheet, not in a freezer but on the kennel area floor for DAYS in the summer! The smell was HORRID. The staff was just 4 females, we asked the vet every day he was there if he would take the dog to be cremated and got no response. Finally one Saturday we (not to mention clients) could not handle the smell any longer so we called the crematorium and BEGGED them to stay open until we could get the dog to them. Finally they agreed after hearing the story. ALL 4 of us used every ounce of strength we had while holding our breath getting this dog to one of the girl's car. She had pulled the car as close to the door as possible and had the back open and ready. (it was a camaro) We got the dog loaded in her car and she flew across town with the back of the car open and a towel over her nose to the crematorium.
There were some other things that went on there as well.
Needless to say I no longer work there. I am not reviewing as a bitter ex employee, no, if the service and care was top notch I would review with nothing but praises and 5 stars. I give honest opinions, good or bad.
Please do NOT take your pets there.
