I am lucky to live very near my public library. I am only about 3 miles from the main branch. I take my children there at least once per week and sometimes more often than that.
The Elkton branch (main branch) of the Cecil County library is housed in a modest sized one floor building. There is a large area that is glass enclosed for the children's room. It is just wonderful! There are many books, of course, but many other things for the kids to do when they visit the library! There are computers with games and some with internet. There are toys to play with in the library. There are books on tape and videos that can be checked out. There are also "kits" that can be checked out. These kits are bags with a book and some activity that goes along with the book.
The librarians at the Elkton library are wonderful. Iknow the children's librarians best and they all know my daughter by name. They will help find anything or answer questions,etc. They also lead story times and other programs for children.
I love that I can access my library account online as well. I can see what books I have out so I can keep track of what is due when. In addition, I can look up books online and place them on hold so I can pick them up at the circulation desk on my next visit. I can even order books that are in any library in my state through a state-wide system my library participates in. It is nice to be able to get almost any book I want to borrow!
I recommend a visit to the library. You'll find great books and great people!
