Customer Service at all time LOW 6/16/2006

I wanted to make a couple of tags for my father and a friend for Fathers Day, so I created the art and dropped off at Broadway Signs. They had seemed very nice when I had gotten pricing for a project and I purchased some corplast boards from them for the same project. This was 6-7 months ago. I was called when the tags were ready and went to pick them up. I noticed that one of them seemed cocked, but couldn't get a good measurement with the wooden ruler that they had on their work table. When I got back to my studio, I measured and checked the digital file for trueness. The Art was 3/16" off on the tag, but true in the digital file. I had cloned the left side and moved to the right for accuracy. The lady on the phone was nice and said to come back and they will take care of it. Upon entering the shop, they seemed a little weird about it, but progressively became mad at me when trying to explain. I never lost my temper of became attacking (sometimes I can snap back). I was so much in awe that someone would be like this for such a small problem that clearly wasn't acceptable.Their stance was that I needed to go to a car graphics store, that they were a production shop and this kind of tolerance was acceptable. They offered to give me my money back, but I stated that I just wanted it corrected. They kept going on and on about how they didn't charge enough for this, were going to get out of making tags for people and that they did them as a favor for their regular customers that spend hundreds of dollars a month. I finally said that they could have had my t-shirt business, but not now. I was anticipating purchasing t-shirts and/or hats with my companies logo before end of 2006. They redid the plate and it was off a little more than the first one, must have measured from 2 different reference points for straightness. I got the plate and left, definitely not to return ever again. My business has little tolerances, so I guess I expect the same when I purchase from others. I definitely didn't expect this kind of response, especially on the first issue. I was treated as if I had ongoing problems and the I was always a complainer. Service is sometimes the only thing that you can control. It is not the problems, but how you deal with them that counts. This time it wasn't dealt with very well. Good Luck if you go to Broadway Signs in Knoxville, and don't have your expectations set very high. more
