It was not a mistake, I called them to find out why, and tried to say Lowes wouldn't cover it. I imagine they can make a lot of money billing Lowes and their customers with extended warranties. When they came out they gave my washer an entirely different problem (it leaks now and never has before), and still were going to double charge me and Lowes.
