The Field Museum is a good place to bring the kids on a rainy day. It is moderately priced and FULL of things to see. I think it is better for older children and a bit boring for the stroller/preschool set as they are not allowed to touch much. My son loves the Sue the dinosaur exhibit and we hope that she will remain at the Field Museum for years to come. Sue is the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found and an impressive exhibit. I think the rooms and rooms of stuffed animals are a bit much for the kids. My kids always express sympathy for the dead/stufffed animals more than they enjoy how close they can get to seeing them. The Field Museum has a few "free" days a year and we do try to take advantage of those when we can. But, it is worth the entrance price and we usually go whenever we like.
