We recently had occasion to help a friend trying to purchase carpet from Home Depot in Key West. It took quite a while after ordering for the carpet to be installed and we were charged not only for the carpeting and installation but also to have the floor cleaned, tackless strips removed and the furniture moved. All in all the cost for one small three bedroom house came to over $4000.00. The installer botched the job and the carpet is pieced together with about fifteen seams where about five or six might be needed. Several trips back to the store net no results. The store manager even refuses to discuss it. We have found out that the installers were fired for poor job performance but the store seems to want to do nothing to correct this. There are not a lot of businesses in Key West so they think they don;t have to make good on their products. I would never purchase anything from them again.
