Revised opinion 5/2/2006

I ordered a corsage to be delivered to my son's prom date. Gil & Curt were very highly recommended. I live in a different city, so I phoned them, described what I wanted, arranged for delivery, gave her address & phone # & mine, then gave them my credit card info. They were very helpful, the corsage was lovely BUT . . . on the day of the prom, my son's date phoned him & said the florist had just phoned her and said the flowers needed to be picked up! He had to get a ride to the florist, then they CHARGED him and he had to come up with the cash! I spoke with Gil and they are to credit my card back, but with minimal attempt to explain the error(s). Just, " . . can't say why that happened." Given their reputation, I was disappointed. It added unnecessary stress to my son's day, and he had to use his prom money to pay for the corsage. I was expecting something other than a perfunctory "oops, sorry"! My lesson? Make sure you are speaking with an owner, get everyone's name, make them repeat everything back twice, then hope for the best. UPDATE: Got a call from lady at Gil & Curt saying they were mystified because their driver claimed he delivered the corsage that afternoon. The plot thickens . . . stay tuned. This is the 2nd floral fiasco I've experienced this year; the first involved an unidentified florist thru Teleflora - - Valentine's bouquet delivered on Feb. 15th! Final installment: Ann at Gil & Curt followed thru. The mystery remains as to why they phoned the girl to tell her the corsage needed to be picked up. AFTER the florist called my son, and AFTER he picked up the corsage, they ALSO delivered a corsage to the girl’s home! She and her mom were out getting her hair styled for the prom, and her dad received the corsage and put it in the fridge, but didn’t say anything about it to them when they got back. Then my son showed up and they put their (gorgeous) flowers on, but the dad didn’t realize the corsage wasn’t the same one! After they left, he went to the fridge and said, “The flowers are still here” Gil & Curt credited my card and they have now rocketed to the top of my list! They will definitely get my floral business in the future. more
