I stayed here because after much internet research it was revealed that this was the cheapest motel anywhere in Marin. Almost as cheap as staying in a hostel. Why might someone who lives in SF want to stay in a hotel in Mill Valley? Because I’m poor and my last vacation consisted of biking over the Golden Gate during that spell of rain we had this spring and what better way to completely disappear and have a grand old time than by shacking up in not just any old cheap motel - but the CHEAPEST motel - with someone you love?
As a point of note, this perfect rating is for the perfect cheap hotel. Big bed. Mostly clean sheets. Bathtub. Cable. Funny smell. Strange guy staying next to us. Still, it might have only rated a 4, but the fountain from which the hotel derives its name looked like it'd been broken for about 30 years. Hence the 5th star.
