One of the great mysteries of my life is why McDonalds still exists. I have heard rumors of great fries and the Big Mac, but none of them satisfy me. I think it comes down to marketing, and McDonalds marketing often aims square at the middle class African American whose members clearly have no business gaining any more weight, but that is another story that borders on racism, so I’ll get back to the point. The food is bad. That’s all there is to it. It is well packaged, it is uniform, it is well marketed, it is cleverly named, however it tastes awful.
In the olden days, you could justify this awful taste with the knowledge that it at least was cheap, but unfortunately that is not the case with most of the menu today. If you do go to McDonalds, and are forced to eat something to be polite, then buy a single hamburger or a single cheeseburger. These items are still cheap and eating one of them will do no real damage. Otherwise, I cannot recommend it, especially to parents who are the prime target of a lot of McDonalds “Happy Family” marketing. Don’t teach your children that eating overpriced unhealthy food is a reward, it should be a punishment.
