As Bunco Host, one of the things I must do is shop for great prizes on a budget. The top prize is supposed to be $20, the next one $16, and so forth. until you get to the 6 “booby prizes” that are a dollar each. Sometimes, buying the prizes can be more stressful than choosing and preparing the whole menu!! The gifts need to be “amazing” and something that will really get everyone excited.
If you plan ahead, you can get some excellent deals and really make your dollar stretch.
The last time I hosted Bunco, I had a great experience at Bath and Body Works. They just happened to be having an amazing sale where they offered $10 off for every $35 spent. Plus, many of their gift sets were on sale at the time.
I went in to the store at a time when they were not busy, (read: NOT A WEEKEND) and one of the sales people eagerly asked to help me. I explained that I was buying gifts for Bunco and she knew just what I was talking about. I showed her my price for each prize and this helpful employee worked with me to put together a great selection of prizes. Because of the special they had going on, I was actually able to get the Antibacterial Hand Soaps that normally sell for $4.50 each, as my $1 prizes. All of the prizes original prices were way over what my budget dictated, but because of the sale I came in on budget and got some amazing gifts for my guests.
If you are planning on hosting Bunco, watch for a Bath and Body Works sale. The employees are helpful and the gifts are always a hit.
