Interpretative Center to the Salt Mines in Cabo Rojo 8/8/2006

This location has been established & created by our Group of Environmentalist called Caborrojeños Pro Salud Y Ambiente, of whom I'm proud to be a part of. The main purpose is to educate everyone of the importance of the Ecology of this special area. A variety of 118 migratory birds stop in this area to feed on what is called "artemia" known by others as sea horses, which is a small type of shrimp. After they feed for various days they start their 48 hour flight towards South America during the winter. If we don't take care of this area, where will they stop to feed in the future? Also the history of the salt mines is very interesting. I hope you are able to visit the site and enjoy every page with detail. I posted the English version. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. God Bless! Yoly Perea more
