Good summer event... 4/7/2006

The Freeborn County Fair is an event that most of the county looks forward to all year long. The fair runs the first week of August from Tuesday through Sunday. It does have a steep entrance fee, this year of $8.00 for children ages 11 through adult; this entrance fee does get you into the grandstand show for free though. The grandstand always has new upcoming usually country singers and some old time favorites. If you are not a fan of the shows, the fee is a little high. There is a midway, full of rides and games - the best way to go on the rides is to purchase an armband on one of the many armband days. An armband will get you unlimited rides during the armband session. There are many great places to eat at the fair, Casa Zamora has a booth that is really good. Godfathers has a stand serving their pizza and you can buy a refillable mug from them which makes getting pop at the fair a good deal. Also at the fair, are the many buildings filled with 4-H animals and projects. There is also a kiddie animal barn which is always a hit. There is also a building for projects that the general public has entered into competition, which ranges from flowers to antiques to food items. There are many activities that go on at the fairgrounds daily for both adults and children. It is a great family get together. more
