Pike's Place is an icon - it is so quintessentially Seattle. I love to wander through here on my lunch hour and just take in the sights and smells. There are the fish throwing guys, of course and the flower vendors - and the food - ahhh, the food! My favorite place for fish and chips is actually across the street from the "main" market - Jack's Fish Spot, you can eat here at the counter for $6 and man is it GOOD. You really can't go wrong anywhere.
If you're planning a visit to Seattle do not miss the market, and if you want a really "authentic" experience, go really early in the morning when the vendors are setting up. You'll miss the crowds (which are awful in the summer) and really get a feel for the magic of the place.
