After we moved to McAllen we were starving and El Zarape was the first restaurant we saw. We were dying for some Mexican food and just happened to stop in. I can remember my dad reading the menu in Spanish thinking maybe we should have went somewhere else but we all just ordered and at the time weren't sure what we had ordered.
This was my introduction to the Papa con Fajita that has become a legend in my family. I have gained 20 lbs because of their baked potatoe with Fajita meat on top. Any time a family member or friend comes down to the Valley to visit us, they immediately want "the potatoe".
Along with their potatoes, their tacos are excellent also especially with their special hot sauces.
