Hyatt Jersey City -- Awesome Views Of Manhattan Skyline 5/11/2006

I found this hotel online through Orbitz when I was planning a trip to NYC a couple of years ago and because it was considerably less expensive to stay there than in Manhattan, I gave it a try. Was I every pleasantly surprised! This is a beautiful new hotel, only a few years old, located directly on the Hudson River overlooking Manhattan. The Path station that takes you into NYC is right next door and takes you under the river and into the World Trade Center Path Station, so it is an excellent location to stay in and still be only a few minutes away from the City. It is also within walking distance to the ferry boats that take you into the City and to the trains that take you to the ferrys to see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. You may also walk to local restaurants and the Path train will also take you to a local Mall not far from the hotel. This high rise hotel is decorated in a very contemporary style and the rooms are incredibly nice. They have nice comfy bedding, beautiful furnishings and bathrooms and even include a small coffee pot and refrigerator (not a mini-bar). There is a restaurant/lounge in the hotel called the Vu and it features floor to ceiling windows so you can enjoy that fabulous Manhattan skyline which is beautiful during the day or at night and you can even see the Statue of Liberty from there...and from some of the rooms as well! The buffet breakfast at the Vu is overpriced and the food cold though, so I don't recommend that...I have tried it 3 times....never again! When I first stayed there it was easy to book rooms at this hotel, but this well kept secret is no longer secret...book early, it is always full. more
