Interesting Historical Home 4/13/2006

The George Eastman House is a spot that is steeped in Rochester history and worth visiting at least once or twice. It is neat to see all of the original lavish decor from the twenties and hear the amazing story of how Eastman had his house expanded by splitting it and inserting new construction in the middle! The Dryden Theater is also here, and they regularly show great old classic films - sometimes even silent films with live musical accompaniment. The gift shop has a nice collection of books and photography-related items and the gardens are well maintained in the summer. I wish the Eastman House showcased more of George Eastman's product innovations and professional life and gave some more biographical details about his personal life. more
