Cushing Square in Belmont is one of those unique little gems of a neighborhood. There are random little shops and eateries, very few of them part of a chain (Starbucks is really the only chain place). Zia is a fun, funky little shop that has all kinds of unique items to buy for yourself or for gifts. They have things for women of all ages, and there is something at every price. Occasionally they have special events, so look out for those. This whole block has unique little shops. Zia is very friendly, too. Parking is pretty easy. There are buses that go to Cambridge and other surrounding towns.
