I went to Steamboat last winter for a ski vacation, and it was great! I flew into Denver and rented a car and drove to Steamboat. It was about a three hour drive, but the scenery is amazing. Steamboat has been voted one of the best ski resorts for families, and there are plenty of families with young children vacationing here. The mountain is close to the village, and there are plenty of shopping and dining establishments. There is even a Wal-Mart in case you forgot something at home. Because Steamboat is located in the northern part of the state, they get more snow than other ski resorts in Colorado. Check out the website for vacation packages, and special deals.
