Terrific, hands-on museum 4/7/2006

Does it really matter if he wore a coon-skin cap or killed a bear when he was three? Davy Crockett will also be an American legend. This museum shows you how he got his start. Long before he was making a last stand at the Alamo, he was running around in this neck of the woods. This museum is very cheap...I think it's like $5 a person, less for children. It has a small gift shop. It's loaded with Davy Crockett memoriabilia. All of it is not authentic to the Crockett family. (the original cabin burned circa 1850s) It's also mixed in with other valuable antiquities from this area of Tennessee. The best thing is that this museum isn't backed up behind velvet robs with prizes encased in glass. Kids can sit on the feather bed and hold irons used by another great East Tennessee, Andrew Johnson. This is definately worth a trip. more
