I use to take my 7, 5, and 4 year olds to the library to get books or to just hang out and read but they always got so squirmy becuase they had to be quiet and you know kids, if you say "be quiet here please, they'll want to do the opposite. SO now I take them to half price bookstore--we spend about an hour there just in the kid section looking at books and the kids just like to sit and read quietly. They pick out a few books they want and read about them..then we usually end up getting a few books--which are not very expensive at all. The kids can still talk quietly but they don't feel as restrained.
