Village Books in Old Fairhaven 3/30/2006

Village Books is a community-based, independent bookstore located in the Historic Fairhaven district of Bellingham, Washington and has been in business since 1980. It recently moved into a newly renovated 3-story building, with a cafe on the top floor that provides a scenic view of Old Fairhaven and Bellingham Bay. Here you can find best sellers alongside with regional favorites. The children's section is very good, too. I like VB's "Literature Live" series which brings authors to town. I was fortunate enough to attend a reading by Madeline l'Engle several years ago. Owners Chuck and Dee Robinson have great book sense and connections in the independent bookseller community, and VB's customers benefit by being some of the first to hear about new authors and new books. I never visit Bellingham without a stop at Village Books. more
