The Catfish Pad is one of those unassuming places that looks like somebody gutted their house and decided throw a non-stop fish-fry. Tucked away in a nook both beside and behind a tobacco outlet, this little blue building has been around for as long as I can remember. You'll find a menu consisting mostly of beer-battered and fried seafood served by what appears to be a family with a few hired hands. Obviously their namesake is the main attraction, which I cannot review personally because I'm not a fan of said fish. Their shrimp however is very fresh and has both crunch and the soft sweetness that makes shrimp so delicious. There's not much else of note about the Catfish pad. They do one thing really well: fry seafood. The side dishes are barely noteworthy (although I do like their hush puppies). As far as pricing goes, you can grab a lunch for about $6 and a dinner plate will run you around $8-10 depending on what you order. The portions aren't incredibly generous, in fact I found myself craving more shrimp after I had a dinner there. more
