Beware! 7/28/2011

We our got our taxes done here in begining of February 2011. Everything seemed great when we walked in to meet with our "tax advisor" We bought a home in 2010 so we were excited about getting our $8k tax credit. After going through all of the questions and paper work he tells us that we can't file electronically since the final tax codes would not be available till feb 14. He said he will file on Feb. 14 once the tax code is updated. He then tells us that the IRS is not accepting efiles with home buyers credit. So he recommends that we e-file a regular tax return and then do an amendment for the home buyers tax credit. At the end he tells us the cost will be around $250 total for all paperwork. I thought this was expensive but he said it included everything. He said he would call us the following week once they filed everything so we could get all of the paperwork and file the amendment. Following week we were waiting for a phone call.. nothing! I call Thursday and I was told he was busy and could not talk but the paperwork was ready since Tuesday. We get there to pick up the rest of the paperwork and they asked for another $100 for the amendment. I talked to the receptionist and explained that we were told everything was included when we initially came in to file our return. She was very nice about it but basically told me there was nothing she could do about it. I asked to speak with the guy who did our taxes, yet again he was too busy to talk to us. He said he was busy with customers but no one was sitting with him in his cubical. Manager would not talk to us, we paid the paid the bill and vowed never to return. I have dealt with other H & R block places before and never had a problem. more
