Pretty Good Mexican food & reasonable prices 6/14/2006

My husband and I ate at Don Pablo's for the first time last night for the first time. It is a chain Mexican restaurant in Henrietta. We had tried to go once or twice before, but found the wait to be too long on weekend evenings. This time it was mid-week and there was no wait at all. The complimentary tortilla chips were disappointingly bland and a one or two were slightly burnt. We definitely needed the salsa that accompanied them. I had a fajita salad which I quite enjoyed - the chicken and grilled veggies were juicy and hot, the dressing was flavorful and there was plenty of grated cheese. My husband was less impressed with his "margarita enchilada" (a new special) because the sauce had a somewhat odd flavor. The decor is predictably kitschy - modeled after a Mexican cantina, but with very high warehouse-type ceilings. The service started out strong, but near the end of our meal the server disappeared for an irritatingly long time and we were left staring at our empty plates and waiting for the check. A mixed bag, but we will probably give this place another try. more
