The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum does not always have exhibits I am interested in and the permanent collection cannot even come close to the fabulousness of the Met or MoMA. So unless you dig the latest display (like when Matthew Barney's Cremaster cycle was there...PHENOMENAL for film geeks like me), the real reason to visit is the architecture. You will recognize the interior from countless films. It is a thrill to walk up it and look down as the diminishing floor - very trippy.
The Guggenheim is a must-see for those (like me) who are trying to hit all of the Guggenheims in the world ( I have been to 4 so far).
