Little Italian sandwich shop with a good selection of panini and vegetarian friendly sandwiches. Also, soup, pizza, SUPERB salads, pasta, homemade desserts (think cannoli), and coffee/espresso. I often go here for lunch with a book to enjoy the friendly service and relatively quiet space (with the background noises of a business, of course).
They also have a deli case with imported meats and cheeses by the pound, and San Benedetto beverages.
Must try: minestrone and Joey V salad.
For Des Plaines, a few menu items seem a little pricey but everything is always fresh and a lot of the meats (if not all) are imported. No wilted lettuce here.
