Ruppert's is a great place. The atmosphere is a little dark because of the darkly stained wood used for the seating, and partitions. They have a fantastic Sunday Brunch. On Friday nights there is usually someone playing live music (guitar).
There is a bar to the right when you enter, and area for smokers. There is seating in additional areas for non- smokers. The food is American, with specialties in seafood, steaks, pastas. The atmosphere is charming, and not too intimidating for families with kids. The service is great, and the wait for food was short.
The last time we went was 2/14/06. My husband has their seafood Marchiera and I had a steak special with fried shrimp. My daughter ordered a fresh pizza that came with roasted peppers, and thin homemade crust . It was all excellent. We went there for a family Valentine's day dinner. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice night out with family, or a couple loking for a cozy retreat for a nice date.
I have been to the Sunday Brunch which is sometimes packed. Reservations may be a good idea for holidays, but we ate at 5pm on Valentine's Day without them and had no problem. There is a large parking lot with ample parking.
